Angela Gaber Trio (PL) Music: world music / ethno / experimental

Angela Gaber Trio is a Polish-Kazakh musical project, which delivers a combination of ethnic and experimental sounds through a wide range of instruments. Utilizing a multi-instrumental scheme, the trio blends sounds of the saxophone, guitar, Armenian duduk, ambient synth, warm vocals, and experimental improvisations. The trio plays covers of Polish, Ukranian, Serbian, and Gypsy music in addition to original compositions.

The effect of 3 different personalities, sensibilities, and life’s histories combining has paved the road for a musical journey in which 3 individual cultural identities, experiences, and fates come together to create a mosaic of sounds.

The band was founded in 2011 by Angela Gaber. She invited Aleksander Czikmakow – a great composer and arranger from Kazakhstan, who was studying at The Academy of Music in Cracow. In the beginning of 2013 Angela and Aleksander recorded their first album with Lukasz Sabat – a multi-instrumentalist playing saxophone, Armenian duduk and electronics. Their stunning music draws the attention of both listeners and traditional music critics. Angela Gaber Trio is now working on their second album with Ernest Drelich and performing in Poland as well as abroad. Angela Gaber Trio received awards at: Polish Radio’s Folk Festival “Nowa Tradycja 2013″ (“New Tradition”) International Folk Music Festival “Mikolajki Folkowe 2012″ (“Santa’s Folk”) Anna Treter’s Festival of Creativity “Korowod 2012″ “Grechuta’s Festival 2011″
